MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 5, episode 11 preview: Graduation and a one-hour episode

When “Awkward” airs its next new episode on MTV in one week’s time, something will be different almost right away: You are getting an hour’s worth of story. With there being no new episode of “Faking It” on the air, the comedy will have a chance to tell a story that will not only run longer, but potentially also set the stage for the twelve episodes that follow (which could in turn be the end of the show).

The story for this episode will be graduation, which begins with whether or not the class can convince the powers-that-be at Palos Hills to go ahead and let Sadie speak at graduation. There is resistance to the idea, but the students seem desperate enough to stage something where if she doesn’t walk, neither do they. Given that there is a scene of Jenna and company at graduation in the preview, we have to think that this is going to work itself out eventually.

Meanwhile, what about Matty and Jenna? This story has to explore what their future is only going to be. They’ve put their feelings out there into the world, but the reality is still that at some point in the future, they are going to be graduating and potentially moving on with their lives. They’ll be in separate parts of the country seemingly, and that could make their relationship difficult.
