‘Downton Abbey’ series finale: Could Lily James return as Lady Rose?
Given that we have already seen so many other popular “Downton Abbey” characters return this season after some time away, isn’t the timing right that we also bring back Lily James into the fold? We certainly think so, which is why we’re glad to say that she will be coming back, seemingly for the upcoming Christmas Special.
James confirmed the news to Harper’s Bazaar, explaining that she was happy to be back at work on the series after spending time on “Cinderella” and other projects:
“It was amazing going back after a break. You are just totally re-inspired by the wonder of it, that grand house against grey skies.”
While we will not profess that Rose was a personal favorite character, we are pleased to have her back since she does bring a particular element of history to the table within the family, and also has a little extra star power come Christmastime. This episode is one that we imagine will run at least two hours, and it has a whole lot that it is going to have to execute in a short amount of time. While we (and everyone else) have heard the rumors regarding some sort of possible movie down the road, we really do not hope that this happens. Instead, we are going to be more than pleased if the show simply opts to give us a story that feels conclusive and in the spirit of the show. If that happens, we will be satisfied no matter what.
Is there anyone feasible from the series’ past who you would love to see back on “Downton Abbey” before the end? Let us know in the comments.
