‘Downton Abbey’ season 6, episode 7 preview: Michelle Dockery’s Mary and a car dilemma
The next new episode of “Downton Abbey” is mere hours away from airing on ITV, but for all fans of Lady Mary there is one key question to ponder: Is she going to be able to handle Henry Talbot’s hobby? As many fans out there know, this character is particularly keen on auto racing.
Herein lies the problem: Mary’s feelings on racing and automobiles are well-documented. It’s not so much like she is demanding that Henry stops this habit, but she has her metaphorical scars to bear here. When your ex-husband dies in an automobile accident, it is rather hard to be around such things and be expected to have a free mind.
It is for this reason that we consider Sunday’s installment a true make-it-or-break-it moment for these two as a couple. Mary cares for him, but will she be able to handle this? If she’s not, will Henry stop the habit for the sake of her happiness? Both are things that will be considered.
Of course, Michelle Dockery’s character is not the only character on “Downton Abbey” dealing with a romantic storyline at the moment. Be sure to be on the watch for something more regarding Lady Edith, whose story has accelerated over the course of the past several episodes. Her hang-up is an actual person in Marigold more so than any other particular thing.
