‘The Good Wife’ season 7, episode 5 preview: Is Eli feeling ignored?
Why would you want to freeze out Eli? It’s a good question. There are few within “The Good Wife” universe who are as shrewd as he is. Not only that, but there are also few with the capacity to burn you in the way that he can.
In the sneak peek below, you can see Eli first doing everything that he can to listen in to some key conversations; then, after he tries to invade whatever tete-a-tete Ruth and Peter are having, they don’t even acknowledge him being there. The reasoning for that is simple enough: Ruth is extremely good at her job! All of a sudden, Eli may be looking at a situation where he does not feel anywhere near as useful or valued, and that could make for some hard times for him down the road.
We know that this scene could be a part of what compels him to stir up some drama in the Florrick family as a way to further secure a little bit more of a metaphorical spot for him at the table. We’ll have to see how that works out, but for the time being, we’re not that optimistic that he is going to continue feeling anywhere near as comfortable as he is … provided that he is even feeling that comfortable at all right now.
We’ll be back tomorrow night with a full review of this episode, which we feel right now could be a great one for Alan Cumming performance-wise. He is already rather tremendous here.
