ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: When will a key Nathan Fillion story return?
Ever since the start of season 7, “Castle” viewers have wondered just what in the world happened to Rick to cause him to disappear for months. We’re still wondering that. Sure, the show did give us some answers near the end of last season, but this is something that has been hinted at here or there since. Clearly, there is more coming that we don’t quite know about just yet.
So when will this key part of the story for Nathan Fillion’s character return? It’s probably not going to be until some matters are resolved for Beckett and the separation; specifically, co-showrunner Alexi Hawley tells Entertainment Weekly that you should look a few episodes sown the road in order to see when some answers will potentially arrive:
“We can definitively say that that’s coming up in the middle part of the season … We’re definitely going to go there probably in the episode 14 area — 13, 14, 15 — something like that. We’re still nailing down the specifics, but we want to get into that. We want to, as we promised at the beginning of the season, tie that in to some of the stuff that we set up at the beginning of the season.”
At this point, we’re not really looking for any sort of logical answer when it comes to Rick’s disappearance. The notion of logic with this story really started to go out the window a long time ago. Instead, what we really want to see here is mostly just something that is fun, intriguing, different, and satisfying. As long as we’re enjoying getting the information, we will be able to suspend belief.

I have to disagree about anything being resolved about Beckett and Castle’s marriage before the stories about Rick’s disappearance show up. Since Hawley and Winter will defend to the death the idea that the only way to write anything “exciting” about the two of them is for them to not be together they probably won’t be living together again until just before the end of the series.

Jim, I agree that the show runners are not going to do anything about the Caskett split. I believe that they are going to try to ride that dead horse for the remainder of the series because they feel that if it can be done once it can be done again. That does not make it right, however. I will watch through 8×08 and if they do not show me something with promise I’m out of here.

Quite honestly I could care less about what happened to Castle during his disappearance. It has never been treated as something of importance so why drag it up now. It has never been in any manner connected to Loksat but it is going to be because the current show runners feel obligated to deal with it for some unknown reason and Loksat is apparently the only story line that the show runners have. They could have a much better story line in catching Bracken’s partner but are choosing instead some dull humorless “fun” episodes in sheer desperation for use of air time and in delaying the show and characters moving forward. I would like someone to explain the use of these “fun” episodes when they do nothing towards the accomplishment of what the show runners said their objective for season 8 to be. They do nothing to “shake up” the show. Nothing towards advancing the character of the stars nor the action of the show. Just wasters of air time and opportunity for a really great season.

Oh my what a bunch of BS from the writers, that are lost and have no idea or logical reason for his disappearance .Just going to something really stupid /supposedly fun in revealing the details. Will completely lose the rest of fans here real soon. GOD BLESS THE WRITERS.
