‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: First look at Matt Ryan’s Constantine

Constantine -While there is a lot to look forward to on “Arrow” Wednesday night, the reality here is that the episode following it is the one that many are really looking forward to. We’re talking about “Haunted,” which is the long-awaited debut of John Constantine on the show. Matt Ryan is stopping by as the same character he was on the canceled NBC show, and the story is fully going to be canon.

The photo above is your first tease of Ryan alongside star Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, and he tells TVInsider (who provided the image) just how badly Warner Bros. TV wanted this to work:

“They moved heaven and Earth to get me here … I was starting rehearsals for a play [Thérèse Raquin] with Keira Knightley in New York on the first of September. And originally, where the episode sat in the season, I wouldn’t have been able to do it because of my schedule. But everybody just pulled together and moved some things around and really made it work.”

The reason for John’s appearance in the “Arrow” world is to assist in making Sara Lance back into the woman that she once was. He is a master at exorcising demons and mystical situations, and we’re curious to see what his relationship with Oliver is really like. Given the sort of mysticism we’ve seen explored on the show already with the Lazarus Pit, he’s a perfect fit.

Also, we still argue that Ryan’s version of Constantine is exactly what fans of the character hoped to see. He’s tremendous. It’s a bummer that his show couldn’t find the audience.
