‘Scorpion’ season 2, episode 7 preview: Walter and company head to Area 51

Scorpion -Tonight’s new episode of “Scorpion” brought us a lot of action, excitement, and also the longest running time in the history of the show: 90 minutes. That’s a lot action for a single team to take on!

Next week, everything will be back to normal … at least in terms of scheduling. The series returns to 9:00 p.m. Eastern time after “Supergirl,” and it will run for only an hour. What is slightly-less-normal is that the next episode is entitled “Area 51,” and based on everything that we’ve heard so far, a big part of the story is going to be seeing what happens when the team visits Area 51. Are they going to see aliens? Probably not; those are being saved for another show in “Fargo.” (Monday night TV lineup jokes!)

Take a look at the short synopsis below to get a sense as to what Walter’s motive is for the visit:

“To help fund Walter’s research into saving his sister’s life, Team Scorpion takes a lucrative job for the CIA to find a top-secret aircraft in the mysterious Area 51.”

Here is one thing that we are especially interested to see the rest of the season: What the ratings trajectory is after “Supergirl,” given that CBS has not made their plans clear for after the big game. We feel like it’s very possible that this show could get the spot; the leading candidates right now are probably either this or the Melissa Benoist hit, but they may wait a few weeks in order to figure this out. (We would personally be very stoked to see a “Scorpion” Super Bowl episode in the future.)
