‘Saturday Night Live’: Matthew McConaughey to host, Adele to perform on

SNL -All right, all right, all right: Matthew McConaughey is getting set to host “Saturday Night Live.” Today, NBC announced that the “True Detective” and “Dallas Buyers Club” star will be hosting the upcoming November 21 show. Not only that, but this show will also feature a musical performance from none other than Adele.

For McConaughey, this marks an interesting choice given that on the surface, he doesn’t have anything to promote until the spring. Yet, maybe he wanted to come on here after seeing both Jim Carrey and Taran Killam impersonate him at various points of the past couple of years. If he mocks his own Lincoln commercials, we’ll give him so much more credit than we have to date. The last time McConaughey hosted was in 2003, when he was known mostly for doing roles as the good-looking guy in romantic comedies.

For Adele, this marks her first appearance since 2008, where she performed “Chasing Pavements” at a time when she was still rising to prominence. Now, she’s coming back as one of the most-popular artists in the world, and is promoting her new single “Hello” off of her upcoming album “25.” She was out of the spotlight for a while, but it’s looking like she could dominate holiday music charts.

“SNL” is going to return on November 7 with a show hosted by none other than President candidate Donald Trump, a phrase that we didn’t think we would be saying at this point last year. Meanwhile, the November 14 edition will feature Elizabeth Banks and musical guest Disclosure.
