NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Watch Jordan Smith, Viktor Kiraly’s epic Knockout Round performance

VoiceIs it possible that Adam Levine has been possessed by the spirit of one of the other coaches on “The Voice“? It’s possible, since the only reason we can think of for why he would pair Jordan Smith and Viktor Kiraly against each other in the Knockout Rounds is if he wants another coach to end up with one of them. From the moment they both opted to go with Adam as their mentor, we figured that they would each be there still on the live shows.

For Jordan, what he brings is a raw soulfulness and a different style than we see from most other people on the show. He’s a real underdog, and there have not been too many others out there like him on the show to date. There is certainly nobody like him this season. His performance below of “Set Fire to the Rain” is stunning, and there will be plenty who are moved by it.

Meanwhile, what Viktor brings to the show is professionalism, charm, and experience coming from overseas. He has a big following internationally, and given that some of that has likely crossed over into America already, he’s probably more of a sure thing to survive a round or two. His performance of “If I Ain’t Got You” is equally skilled, and we felt him trying to do some different things and showing off more of what he can do than we’ve seen so far.

Ultimately, there can only be one who advances for Adam, and we have a hard time picking it. Do you want a sure thing in Viktor, or someone who is more of an unknown but may have a higher upside? Our musical tastes lean slightly towards Viktor, but at the same time we feel like whoever doesn’t advance is a lock to get a steal.
