NBC’s ‘The Voice’ video: First look at Rihanna as adviser!

Typically, “The Voice” manages to bring in one extremely famous person every season to fulfill an important role: Final adviser before the knockout rounds. In the past, we’ve seen such people as Taylor Swift and Chris Martin in this spot, and this time around, we have none other than Rihanna! You know that she is going to be bold, and give opinions that are honest, refreshing, and important all at the same time.

The sneak peek below gives you a quick taste of what Rihanna will be like as a mentor, and for the most part, we’re excited! She is not just sugar-coating advice for these people, and she seems really great at getting people to come out of their shell in ways that we haven’t seen from other entertainers. What she brings is not just a knowledge of singing; she’s also probably one of the best pure performers that the show has brought on. She understands age presence and having to command a crowd, and that is where many of these singers falter.

Of course, whether or not any of her advice sticks in the long-term remains to be seen. We don’t know how long she actually spent with any of the individual artists, and it may just be a case of her coming on, handing out a few pointers after a performance, and that’s about it.

As a whole, we do like the Knockouts. It offers up more of a chance for originality than the Battle Rounds, and to go along with that, it never feels as bloated or unnecessary.
