‘Gotham’ season 2 spoilers: Chris Chalk on Lucius Fox, Alfred dynamic

LuciusWhile you may not have seen too much of Chris Chalk yet on “Gotham” season 2, we are pretty confident in saying here that we are still only scratching the surface of his character. We are going to see a whole lot more of him, and it is really just a matter of when more so than if. Chalk is, after all, a series regular. (This is the only reason we’re imagining a big story for Harvey Dent soon, given that to date, Nicholas D’Agosto has barely shown up.)

One of the great moments with Lucius so far this season has been seeing him and Alfred debate back and forth regarding Bruce, given that they both have a similar purpose in regards to educating him and making sure he is prepared for what is to come. Part of the reason for their conflict may just be that they are each used to being in charge.

In speaking about this dynamic further in a new interview with TVLine, Chalk passed along the following message:

“What Sean [Pertwee] and I find exciting about the Lucius/Alfred dynamic … it’s two people who can match each other. Usually Alfred is the smartest man in the room, the most dangerous man in the room, and now he has an intellectual counterpart who’s like, ‘I can go all day with you.’”

How will Lucius prepare Bruce for further conflict? That’s one of the most interesting aspects of the season so far, and the young Wayne needs all the help he can given the presence of Theo Galavan in Gotham. His motivation to destroy the Wayne family is now clear, and it is due to his desire to restore his family name to what he personally things it should be.
