Ratings: ‘Empire’ rises, ‘Code Black’ steady, ‘Supernatural’ season 11 tumbles
Wednesday night’s ratings for the most part are a reflection of the ones that we’ve seen throughout the week for the most part. There are no substantial changes, but for a few shows in particular you have signs of life or at least consistency.
Winners – “Empire” has improved for the first time this season! It’d probably be a winner anyway so long as the ratings didn’t drop, but if it really levels out at a 4.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic, we imagine some executives at Fox will be dancing the night away (at least until they look at some of the ratings elsewhere). “The Mysteries of Laura” (1.1) also posted a gain, while fans of newcomer “Code Black” (1.2) will probably just be happy that the show is staying above a 1.0. While there was not a huge audience here from the start, most people are at least still sticking around.
Losers – There’s no debate here that the obvious one is “Supernatural,” which lost over a quarter of its 18-49 rating from the week before, finishing with a 0.6. What in the world happened? Someone better hope for an upward adjustment, or that this was maybe a one-time glitch. It’s still one of the lowest ratings for the show we’ve seen in the fall, but the thing it still has going for it is that it’s above “Jane the Virgin,” “My Crazy Ex Girlfriend,” “iZombie,” “The Vampire Diaries,” and “The Originals” in the ratings pecking order. You can also go ahead and throw “The 100” in there as well.
In the end, the show is not going to end probably unless the actors or producers decide that they want to say farewell … or if the ratings just keep falling.
If your favorite show wasn’t mentioned in this particular ratings report, it probably held pretty close to its numbers from last time, and there is not too much to even say at the moment.

If SPN were on any other network it would have been cancelled years ago. The writing is stale, Carver the showrunner wouldn’t know an original idea if it walked up and slapped him in the face and the actors are just going through the motions. It’s the CW’s cash cow. They won’t cancel until they wring every last bit of profit out of it. Sad.
