“Chicago PD” has been lagging behind “Law & Order: SVU” in terms of episode count over the past several weeks, and as a result of that the show on NBC next week is doing something a little bit different: Busting out a double-episode that will give you a sizable dose of story. “SVU,” meanwhile, will take a vacation.
We really cannot tell you whether or not these two episodes are explicitly linked as of this writing (we have not seen the promo yet) or if this is NBC’s way of just getting tw on the schedule at the same time, but given that the network released one synopsis for both hours, it makes us feel a little more like this will be an event, stuffed full of case information and character revelations at the same time:
“After a botched undercover job, Ruzek (Patrick Flueger) is under scrutiny by the new Street Deputy Crowley (guest star Barbara Eve Harris) who will determine his future with the unit. A suspicious person call turns into a murder investigation when Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and her temporary partner Price (guest star Travis A. Knight) discover the body of a dead man in an SUV. After Mouse (guest star Samuel Hunt) identifies the victim as the owner of a security company, the unit soon realizes there might be more to his story. Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and Lindsay (Sophia Bush) take a step forward in their relationship.”
This episode will take us into the November sweeps, where the show will cover more ground and help prepare for what is set to be an epic “Chicago” crossover event, which will be taking shape in the new year.
