‘Mythbusters’ ending on Discovery; Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman react

Mythbusters -The team on “Mythbusters” has certainly had a heck of a run. The show has been on the air for more than a decade, and in that time there are a pretty wide array of myths that have been confirmed, busted, or left very much up in the air.

Unfortunately, come next year it will all be ending. Discovery announced on Wednesday that the upcoming season premiering on January 9 will be the end for the show, but the good news is that it seems as though hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman knew about this in advance. This was not a case of the show being canceled without their knowledge; they had a chance to look ahead towards the ending, and make some installments with that knowledge.

The two hosts released separate statements; let’s start off with Savage:

“Making MYTHBUSTERS has fundamentally and irrevocably altered the way I think as a person, as an artist, and as a scientist.  I’m glad for the chance to say goodbye with some of the best television we’ve ever made.  I will miss making this show.”

Meanwhile, Hyneman added the following in a statement of his own:

“I never dreamed we would be on television at all, much less for such a long time and with so much praise for keeping a thought provoking show on the air. And best of all, we were able to do what we do and still have all our fingers and toes.”

One thing that we do hope is that Tory Belleci, Kari Byron, and Grant Imahara (who were with the show for many years) get one final chance to tribute their work before it all ends.
