‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 17 spoilers: B.D. Wong poised to return

Law & Order: SVU logo2015 has certainly turned out to be quite a year so far for B.D. Wong. The actor made an extremely memorable appearance earlier this year in “Mr. Robot” as White Rose, and he is now going to be hitting up some old stomping grounds in “Law & Order: SVU” for an upcoming story.

So how is he returning as Dr. George Huang? Per TV Guide, the upcoming episode is continuing the story from the 300th installment, one where Benson (Mariska Hargitay) finally solved a long-running child abduction case. We’re going to be heading into the courtroom, with Lewis Hodda (Tom Sizemore) standing on trial. He is going to be called on to testify during the event, but the biggest surprise is that he could be a witness for the defense. What’s going on here? Given that this is a courtroom, it could be in many ways far more complicated than it first seems.

Wong was a regular on the NBC stalwart from season 4 until season 12, so he clearly knows both the series and the cast extraordinarily well. He also made sporadic appearances both before and after that stretch of time, and is one of those people who seems ready and willing to return whenever there is room in his schedule and the right script. Personally, we’re thrilled about this. Any opportunity to bring in a beloved former member of the cast is something that the show should jump at.

There is a new episode of “SVU” airing on Wednesday night, so be sure to watch to learn more about Rollins’ mother and other matters.
