‘Reign’ season 3 spoilers: Is Francis’ end right around the corner?
Earlier this month, the producers of “Reign” did a rare thing that few others in the world of TV are willing to do: Openly admit that a character is dying on an upcoming episode. Granted, it is a little bit different when you are using history as a road map. There are only so many twists and turns that you can possibly take with a story about Mary and Francis and the tragedy that befell their life together.
The attached photo is from the upcoming November 6 episode “The Price” (per TVLine), and if there is good news to share right now, it is that the character manages to last this long. The bad news is that it looks very much possible that this could be the final episode for Francis, and the show will spend the majority of its third season showcasing how Mary manages to move forward from everything that transpires here.
We expect just as many tears in the audience as there are on Mary’s face when this episode actually airs, and for good reason. We do think that the reason, history aside, that we were told this in advance was to prepare for it, and to approach this season with the knowledge that sooner or later we would see the story evolve into something different.
Let’s just hope that “Reign” treats this subject matter with dignity, and on the other side of this there are many more opportunities to see how Mary tries to become a better ruler than ever before.
