NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Amy Vachal, Juban and Amanda sing ‘To Love Somebody’

Before we talk about the sneak peek below for Tuesday night’s new episode of “The Voice,” let’s talk logic. How strange is it to see a duo sing “To Love Somebody” in a Battle against a solo singer? There are awkward Battles on this show, and then there are awkward battles. This second one definitely seems to be more of the latter.

Jubal and Amanda and Amy Vachal are the two acts performing for Pharrell Williams’ favor, and if we are thinking here in terms of song choice, it feels as though the latter has the clear leg up. This song is more in their lane, and they can do some nice harmonies with it. With that being said, we think that Amy actually has the more potential in this competition, and the further she lasts, the more chances she could show what her voice can really do.

Even though we think Amy is the better singer, here’s the struggle that Pharrell could run into: Jubal and Amanda could still have a better chance of drawing votes in the live rounds, mostly because they stand out as a duo more than Amy may as a solo artist. When you have so many singers for America to keep track of, sometimes you have to do almost everything that you can in order to get people to stand out from the crowd.
