Ratings: ‘Gotham’ season 2, ‘Blindspot’ hurt by football (and ‘Star Wars’?)
The ratings are officially in for Monday night’s TV lineup, and for the most part, it’s not exactly great news for many of your beloved shows.
The saddest revelation is the decline of “Gotham” to a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This is a new series low for the Ben McKenzie show, one that we feel is really worthy of the ratings it was getting last year now. Unfortunately, it’s pretty hard to turn back the clock and convince people now that it is worthy of the numbers it is drawing and then some.
Meanwhile, “Minority Report” fell all the way to a 0.6 rating … which is pretty pathetic. We get the sense that Fox would like to air the remainder of its season 1 run, but how long are they going to put up with it flopping on Monday nights? Even a repeat of “Empire” would likely boost the numbers on Monday until you figure out what else you want to do.
“The Big Bang Theory” (3.7) won the night, but as a whole numbers were down almost across the board. Even “Blindspot,” fresh off of a full-season order, hit its lowest rating of the season so far in a 2.1.
The big culprit right now for many of these low ratings is probably Monday Night Football, which got an additional ratings boost thanks to it hosting the final trailer for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” prior to the feature film hitting theaters later this fall. This game also preempted The CW in New York, so the rise for “My Crazy Ex Girlfriend” and “Jane the Virgin” are probably due to inflation of the numbers.
