Monday night’s new episode of “NCIS: Los Angeles” is entitled “Blame It on Rio,” and there is one word that we would use to describe it based on the sneak-peek below: Fun. How do you not get excited about seeing a crossover between this show and the original? It’s extremely rare, but made extremely fun this time by the fact that it is Michael Weatherly’s Tony DiNozzo who is making the appearance in Los Angeles.
Tony’s first meeting with many of the “West Coast Avengers” (as he calls them) could not come out of any more interesting circumstances, given that you have Deeks dressed as “Bruce Lee” while Nell is preparing for a Renaissance Faire. Tony is dressed just like is for a day on the job with Gibbs, but we certainly think that if he was in Los Angeles long enough, he’d adopt some of their style in almost no time.
We know that Tony is in town for a pickup, and he may need the help of some of the LA team members after things do not go according to plan. For anyone who is expected some sort of significant movement forward in the story this season, you’re probably going to be disappointed by what happens here. We feel like most of the joy is going to just come out of seeing Tony in a new environment, and having the likes of Sam, Callen, and Kensi working with someone who comes bringing his own style and energy.
If you come back later tonight, we’ll have further news on what lies ahead on the show.
