‘Girl Meets World’ season 2, episode 22 reaction: Charlie returns, Lucas and Maya’s ‘date’
At the end of Sunday night’s grand finale for the “Girl Meets World” event “Girl Meets Texas,” we had a number of key developments. Lucas and Maya went on something that was similar to a date, Charlie returned as Riley’s secret admirer, and we started to get the sense that nothing is so simple as it seems.
Do we think that the show has written itself into a corner when it comes to Maya and Lucas? At the moment, we’d answer that question with a “yes.” You don’t want to make Riley seem more important than Maya, just like she doesn’t want to be more important than Riley. When it comes to Lucas, Maya is just going to have to figure things out on her own. Maybe she will realize that this is not the guy for her, and that will open things up since even Auggie seems convinced that Lucas and Riley are not “brother and sister,” bringing back those infamous words that we’ve heard already on the show.
As for Charlie, it’s hard to really know what to make on the character, mostly because we don’t see him often enough. He cares, but he may be destined to eventually fall into the background.
In the end, we feel like this is a very important series of events and an important story for the show, even though by the time the dust settled, not too much really happened to change the game.

I understand what Riley said about not wanting to ruin her friendship with Lucas. We got a taste of that at the semi-formal when Jack came back. However, I think that Riley still has feeling for Lucas and Lucas has feelings for her. The fact that Maya now has feels for him is just confusing them, and I think Riley kind of thinks Lucas has feelings for Maya. Poor Lucas is just stuck in the middle all confused. I think they are all just going to have to figure out how they feel and be honest with each other like Farkle said.

Confused teenagers are the best teenagers as it makes them figure out the situation themselves without the help of their parents, friends.

I think that Lucas and Riley like each other. I think that Riley lied about her feelings for Maya’s sake. I think that Riley and Lucas will boyfriend and girlfriend soon. Maya needs to come to the realization that Lucas isn’t the guy for her, their date didn’t go well. Lucas could and should make the choice too. He already told auggie that he wasn’t going to be Riley’s brother.
The bottom line is that this changes things between Maya, Riley, and Lucas for the forseeable future.

Maya & Lucas’s date was awkward because of still lingering almost kiss they had back in Texas and they don’t know what to make of their feelings for one another.
And did you not watch part 3? Riley did lie about her feelings because she thinks maybe Lucas doesn’t have any feelings for Maya and its only a one sided thing but the campfire scene says otherwise. Riley sees that there is something there between Maya & Lucas and her intentions weren’t thought out thoroughly.
