‘The Good Wife’ season 7, episode 3 review: Alicia’s cooking catastrophe; Eli’s sneakiness
In some ways, Sunday night’s episode of “The Good Wife” was a standard fall filler episode. We’re not sure just how much of it is going to matter in a few weeks, but this proved itself to be thoroughly entertaining.
We love bond court. We’re not sure why, but it’s such a different environment than we’re used to seeing and such a different clientele. Even still, “The Good Wife” brought some high drama to the proceedings thanks to Alicia’s new client, an undercover FBI agent working in a sting operation to get a judge to accept a bribe in exchange for dropping the case. On paper, it seemed like everything was set up for this to happen once she was roped in … at least until Eli entered the picture. He’s being especially dastardly this season, and he tipped the judge off on the bribe in exchange for information about Landau. We’ll see what happens there.
As if this wasn’t enough to make this episode a particularly bad series of events for Alicia, considering the following to incidents:
1. A segment for a local cooking show set up by Eli and Ruth, and one designed to show her and her mother reliving some sort of classic recipe from her childhood. This was meant to be a way to boost up Peter in the polls by showing relatability; however, what it was instead was more or less a case of Eli taking advantage of Ruth.
2. Her working with Howard blowing up in her face when it comes to Diane. He planned on suing them for ageism, but changed his mind. Unfortunately, privilege kept her from being able to clear things up.
In the end, a thrilling episode. Lots of great humor, and proof that nobody is giving Alicia a break. Grade: A-.
