Is ‘The Good Wife’ season 7, episode 3 delayed thanks to NFL football?
Tonight, “The Good Wife” is going to be on CBS with a new episode … but you are going to have to wait a little while longer than usual to see it.
Thanks to live football coverage pushing back primetime, the next new episode is not airing at the previously-scheduled timeslot of 9:30 p.m. Eastern time. Instead, think more along the lines of 9:58, which may as well be 10:00. For those wondering, this also means that “CSI: Cyber” is going to be pushed all the way back until 10:58 p.m. Eastern time, which is barely even in primetime anymore. For those of you wondering why CBS has some issues with ratings on Sunday night, this is why. We understand that football is a big ratings draw, but some consistency with regular programming would be nice as well.
Is it understandable to feel more than a little bit frustrated with the network at this point over how they are handling this? Definitely. It’s something that constantly makes it hard to follow your favorite show, and it almost necessitates that you either be really patient, or have a DVR so that you can record shows and watch when you want.
Here’s the bad news: There is virtually zero hope of CBS changing this anytime soon. While “The Good Wife” is a critical hit, its ratings in the key advertising demos are a fraction of what they make off of broadcasting NFL games. This is so much of the bread and butter these days, which is why the network tried so hard in the first place to get those Thursday-night games.
