Ratings: ‘Truth Be Told’ bombs as ‘Dr. Ken,’ ‘Reign’ season 3 steady; ‘Shark Tank’ falls
Let’s face it: We don’t know of a single person out there who genuinely felt as though NBC’s new comedy “Truth Be Told” was actually going to be a hit. The show just had so much working against it: A changed title, a corny premise, a focus on race relationships that seems out of the 1980’s, and pretty terrible reviews for the most part. Going into this season, we had it on top of our list of “Shows Most Likely To Be Quickly Canceled.”
Well, the premiere ratings are in, and they’re not great. The show drew a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is one of the lowest premieres for any new series on the Big Four broadcasts ever. That’s not great. Still, this probably isn’t that far outside of expectations, given that it aired after “Undateable” (0.9) and on Friday night against baseball postseason.
The bigger surprise to us, and perhaps this is somewhat of an under-reported story, is the fall of “Shark Tank” so far this season. Last night’s episode drew just a 1.3, which is the lowest rating for a new episode we’ve seen in a long time. It actually tied “Last Man Standing” and “Dr. Ken” for lowest-rated show of the night, which is certainly something that we did not foresee happening before getting into this season.
For those of you wondering about the ratings for “Reign,” it drew once again a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Interestingly, a repeat of the “Crazy Ex Girlfriend” premiere drew the same 0.3 on Friday that it did when it premiered earlier in the week. Maybe it will benefit from having a little more sampling?
