‘Rosewood’: Fox series with Morris Chestnut earns full-season order

Great news for all of those who enjoy Fox’s “Rosewood”: It’s not going anywhere in the near future. Today, it was confirmed that the Morris Chestnut series has been picked up for a full season, and it therefore is not going to have anything to worry about some time.

In a statement, Fox Entertainment President David Madden had the following to say:

Rosewood has proven to be a real self-starter for us, which is a tremendous feat on this highly competitive night. Todd Harthan, Morris, Jaina, Lorraine and the entire cast and crew have done a fantastic job creating a gorgeous, sexy world that is the perfect complement to Empire … The upcoming episodes are so compelling as we build out the family dynamics, and with today’s order, we’re excited to explore the world of Rosewood even further this season.”

One thing that is not entirely clear just yet is what a full season of “Rosewood” would really consist of. While most shows that get a full-season pickup have 22, it would make sense here for the series to get five more episodes to bring it to 18, matching the order of its Wednesday-night companion “Empire.”

You could credit “Empire” in some ways for helping “Rosewood” out. While it’s not a lead-in, the two have teamed up to form a pretty powerful one-two punch of programming for Fox on Wednesday night. The ratings for the two have fallen in recent weeks, but even still Fox is in such shambles almost every other night of the week that “Rosewood” never really had anything to worry about.
