‘Game of Thrones’ season 6: Another casting; plus, an Ambassador?

LogoProduction for “Game of Thrones” season 6 is still going strong, and it is happening still in various parts of the world.

The big change for this year is that for the first time since the show began, we’re not going to see a return to Dubrovnik, Croatia, otherwise known as King’s Landing. What’s the reason for that? It’s complicated. Maybe the location became too overrun with fans, maybe it was more expensive, or maybe they just didn’t have a use for it.

Regardless, one of the big things worth noting is that the show is spending more time in Spain, which in turn means that they are getting a very different sort of clientele hanging around the set, as well! In a post on Twitter, the U.S. Ambassador to Spain James Costos can be seen with showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss along with director Dan Sackheim. Think of this as further proof that everyone wants to celebrate “Game of Thrones” at the moment; even the Emmys finally gave the show an Outstanding Drama Series honor at this past edition of the show, ending its drought of going many years without getting the love.

Filming in Spain should continue throughout the months ahead.

More casting news – According to prolific show site Watchers on the Wall, actress Souad Faress has been cast in the role of “High Priestess.” Is this the same, or different, than the recent news regarding the show casting a Red Priestess? There are so many mysteries when it comes to this show, with many of them tied to the fact that many actors have to be rather coy on their roles when sticking them on their CV.
