‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: Meet Captain Hook’s father!

It was first revealed at New York Comic-Con that Captain Hook’s father would be surfacing for the first time on “Once Upon a Time,” and now, we come bearing some more great news: Just who will be playing him.

As first reported by Entertainment Weekly, Adam Croasdell of “EastEnders” fame has been brought on for at least one episode as the character. Unfortunately, that is the only official news on this role that is out there. ABC has chosen to keep things under heavy lock and key beyond just the next episode or two, so who knows just where this story is going to go? For now, what we can say with at least some confidence is that this role should be a chance to learn a little about why Hook’s father left him at an early age, and what influenced him to eventually become the famed swashbuckler that we’ve come to see on the show over time.

New episodes of “Once Upon a Time” are going to continue airing on ABC every Sunday night, and at the moment, it feels like one of the biggest storylines for Captain Hook is going to be figuring out if there is a way to bring Emma Swan back to the woman he once loved. Her transformation into the Dark Swan has made him leery of her, and there are a wide array of reasons why. She’s ultimately not someone who has his best intentions in mind.
