‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ season 3 spoilers: Nick Offerman coming over after ‘Parks and Recreation’
With “Parks and Recreation” now completely over on NBC, we were wondering just how long it would take for some of the show’s regulars to get a chance to shine on Fox’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” After all, the two shows share executive producers, and have have shared many recurring players.
Now, we’ve got an answer. According to Entertainment Weekly, Nick Offerman, relatively fresh off of playing Ron Swanson on the NBC hit, is posed to appear on the upcoming Thanksgiving episode as Frederick, the ex-boyfriend of Andre Braugher’s Captain Holt. There are few other details at the moment, but the idea of Offerman and Braugher sharing screen time is enough to have us thrilled.
In a way, viewers of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” may be familiar with Nick’s voice even if they did not watch “Parks,” given that he is the person who says “Fremulon” at the end of every episode. We’d almost love for there to be some sort of tie-in with that.
Could this be the beginning of many other “Parks” actors stopping by? We’d love to see someone like Retta or Aubrey Plaza on the show at some point, and of course Amy Poehler would be tremendous in just about anything.
This casting is just another feather in the cap for a show that has done a great job of this so far this season. You had a wonderfully-memorable (albeit short) appearance in the premiere from none other than Bill Hader, and Archie Panjabi also booked the show following a lengthy stint on “The Good Wife.” We have to assume more will come.
