ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: Is there another Christmas episode?

While we are not entirely sure that “Castle” and Christmas go hand in hand necessarily, there have been a number of interesting holiday episodes for the show over the years. There’s been a particular connection between Beckett and the holiday that Castle has tried to change, given that she never had too many great memories of it until only recently. Also, who doesn’t love seeing New York (even a fake one filmed in Los Angeles) all lit up for the most wonderful time of the year?

Now, we come bearing the bad news: It does not look as though we’re going to get any sort of holiday cheer on the show this time around. As executive producer Alexi Hawley told TVLine, the scheduling and split-season format have rendered it pretty impossible this time for the show to go down this road:

“Unfortunately, because of the way ABC is platforming us — we do eight episodes and end [Nov. 23], and we’re not on again until the beginning of February — we won’t be on the air for the holidays.”

The site also reports that there will be an episode coming up that could be lighter on Beckett, possibly due to Stana Katic being overseas in Milan. ABC declined to comment on that, but it is something to watch out for. Her presence during the season 8 premiere “XY” was fairly limited thanks mostly to her wrapping up production on a movie. Don’t worry: You will see plenty of her in Monday night’s episode “The Nose,” which looks on paper to be a rather fun time.
