‘Chicago Fire’ season 4 premiere reaction: Show boss on what’s next for Dawson, Casey

Chicago Fire -There was a lot of business to attend to on “Chicago Fire’s” season 4 premiere Thursday night, but one of the biggest bits of business clearly was handling the news of Dawson’s pregnancy. Now that he is back, Casey knows that she is carrying his child, and the two now are facing a future jam-packed with questions … including what exactly they are going to do with their relationship now?

While there is some time until the baby is born, you can expect to see these two characters tackle a variety of important subjects head-on over the course of the upcoming episodes. In speaking on this subject further to The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Matt Olmstead had the following to say:

“It impacts their decision of, are they going to tie the knot? Are they going to make a go of it? Or is this enough right now as it is to deal with? There’s the personal, obviously, but immediately there’s the professional [aspect]. Her goal and her dream was to be a firefighter, she got that and now, at least for the time being, she can’t do it because they just won’t allow it.”

Granted, we expect to see her firmly around the firehouse often thanks to her work in arson investigation. It’s something that changes up where she works, who she works with, and also potentially her relationship with other members of 51. Think of it as yet another wrinkle in the relationship with Casey, along with some of the many loose ends that he has left with Nesbitt.
