‘Chicago Fire’ season 4, episode 2 preview: What lies ahead for Taylor Kinney, Jesse Spencer, cast?

After a long wait (as in, all summer), “Chicago Fire” season 4 premiered on Tuesday night in a way that introduced new characters, gave us the latest chapter in the Casey – Nesbitt crisis, and showed that Severide has a lot of work to do in preparation of trying to get back to where he once was.

None of this is resolved just yet, and there is no guarantee at all that it will be in next week’s “A Taste of Panama City.” For the moment, all that we can give you is a taste of the official synopsis from NBC:

“Members of the firehouse are frustrated with their inability to help Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker), whose job is on the line pending an internal investigation in the aftermath of a complicated call to a fire. Meanwhile, Lt. Severide (Taylor Kinney) struggles to accept his smaller role and adjusts to the presence of Capt. Patterson (guest star Brian White), his new commanding officer. Dawson (Monica Raymund) shakes things up on the work front and Casey (Jesse Spencer) attempts to find a crucial piece of evidence in his ongoing investigation against Nesbitt (guest star Eric Mabius). Elsewhere, Herrmann (David Eigenberg) struggles to keep the peace with Molly’s newest neighbors.”

Sound eventful? It seems at least like this episode will do a good job of pushing things forward, and hopefully giving us something that this show has always excelled at: Balance between procedural elements and character stories. We’ve always been a proponent in particular of the stuff with Herrmann, who brings a nice touch of things away from the firehouse (even though he also works for them).
