ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8, episode 5 preview: Stana Katic, Nathan Fillion prepare for ‘The Nose’
Does “The Nose” really know? We don’t have a firm answer to that, but next week’s new episode of “Castle” does seem like a whole lot of fun. You’ve got a notable guest star in Stephnie Weir, a case that requires a potentially interesting one of the five senses, and maybe more opportunities to have Castle and Beckett work together. We’re going on some sort of a journey here with Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic’s characters, and hopefully this story gets us closer to where we are going to get more information about their long-term future.
In the event you have not seen the synopsis for this episode just yet, take a look at it below:
“When a priceless work of art is stolen and its transporter murdered, Castle and Beckett must work with the key witness to track down the painting and sniff out the killer. With special guest star Stephnie Weir (“MADtv,” “The Comedians”).”
The biggest thing that we think we can say about this episode is that we expect it to be fun, perhaps even more so than anything that we saw tonight. “PhDead” had some fun moments, but we don’t think that there has been a comedy classic among the first four. (Heck, the first two were not really funny at all.) Getting someone like Weir aboard the show should help tremendously, given that she is someone who knows a thing or two about this genre already.

I agree with most of the comments below. I have been very disappointed in the shows this season. Maybe the breakup between Castle and Beckett is because Stana was married this year in real life. Perhaps she doesn’t feel comfortable with the union with Nathan Fillion in the show now. Also, some have said there are bad feelings between her and Nathan. I don’t know if that is true or not, but if it is it can affect the shows they are doing this season. I know I am not happy with the writers of the show and I hope they get their act together before they ruin everything for us fans!

Oh please, Stana is an actress. She shot a love story/adventure film right after she got married called “The Rendezvous.” Obviously this breakup of Castle and Beckett has nothing to do with her marriage and being uncomfortable in physical scenes with another guy.

I don’t think she is uncomfortable with another guy, but in Rendezvous, she isn’t the part of the romance I think.

Um. she’s the female romantic lead opposite hottie Razza Jaffrey who’s now on Code Black. She’s a huge part of the romance – as in half of it.

8×04 had some fine moments and some good acting, but it was all dragged down by the inane story line of Beckett’s enforced separation from Castle while chasing Bracken’s partner. No one watching regularly can ignore that major downer. It didn’t hurt viewership this week, but it will because people will just get sick of feeling depressed over a good show. It will probably happen over winter hiatus.
I am amazed at the boneheads they picked as show runners. These guys obviously have no idea who Castle’s audience is and what makes them show up every week. Who at ABC gave these guys permission to do this?

Only the Show runners think the separation of a married couple is FUN. These episodes are hard to watch and certainly do not show a spark between Castle and Beckette. Better to just let them get divorced. BTW, did they choose these writers based on the lowest salaries?

Finally my feeling were lifted a little in 8×04 by seeing Beckett actually working on one of the most important cases in her life. She is finally using the detectives in the 12th to handle cases so that she can stay in the office with only a little face to face contact with Castle and work on that case. She also impressed upon Ryan and Esposito that she was the Captain, the boss. She looked pretty sharp also.
The test now is whether or not the show runners are going to continue showing promise of the reunion of Caskett or slip back into inane “fun” cases that are not fun with the Casket insane hiatus staring us in the face. Sorry but I cannot have “fun” when much more serious issues (one of them being possible death by a hired gun) staring us in the face.
Supposedly episodes 7 & 8 are to delve more deeply into the Caskett problems and also have new twists and holes to hit us with on top of everything else. I believe it will just be another way of deferral of resolution of the Casket marital hiatus so that they can hit us with new diversions in the form of a cliff hanger. I am very tired of being used and I may not even not watch during ratings.

Buddy, I’m with you , but hopefully it gets cancelled before the resolution I can’t see too many fans watching if they drag this out to long . Alright GREAT WRITERS READ THESE REVIEWS AND COMMENTS OF THE FANS AND THEN GET A CLUE BONEHEADS.

I agree,if by miracle it comes back it will be on a Saturday night where it will die out.
I am so very sad about this, the writers have created a Hate Kate war and it is crazy.Nathan seems to care about nothing but ConMan and Firefly and the worst part is if and when it goes done the actors are going to get the blame, the regulars and the new ones.We should have known when the old show runners left….bad omen.
It breaks my heart to see a once great show take this hit.
I do not even think about the drama do they like each other or not, etc. They are actors and get paid a lot of money.
Praying for a miracle.

Lindag I agree the writers have created a hate Kate/Stana war it is unfortunate .I think this is what is keeping her from Twitter. Iam not mad at the actors they are doing their job. Pissed at writers for causing so much havoc on a terrible premise they thought would bring back fans it appears not to be working.

After last night I would say two more relationships are on the outs,Ryan and Espo the second greatest couple on tv and they are the target of snarky mean jokes and what happened is not funny at all.Castle is not funny to me he is a frat boy on a sugar rush, and it kills me to say that.
Alexis and Kate will have problems even beyond if Caskett gets back together….if….
The writers are so off track they will never be able to recover and get the many fans back that have left.Again it is sad, sad.
I am looking forward to Slaughter,I wasn’t before I am now,he will at least call Castle out on a few things that we all see.

I agree I have read a scathing review from another source and they are saying the same thing its over. Idont know there is a little sneak peak out there that shows them kind of dancing .I think they are going to go for some more sophomoric humor even with Slaughter terrible.
