‘The Good Wife’ season 7, episode 2 review: How was Jeffrey Dean Morgan?
Jason Crouse has now entered the field on “The Good Wife” season 7, and we get the sense already that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is going to be seeing for a long time moving forward … and also for a wide variety of reasons.
Let’s start things off here by explaining just what it is that we particularly enjoy about this character: The sense of mystery that he provides. Clearly, he has a secret motive for wanting to work for Alicia thanks to his fee being so low; also, you get the sense already that Alicia has a certain fascination for him. Surrounding herself with Lucca Quinn for now seems to be an easy way to deter that, as is filling up time in her schedule.
Alicia is still forced to deal with Peter and all the Eli / Ruth drama, which for the most part proved to be yet again supremely entertaining. Anything that shifts Eli out of his standard position is something that we can definitely can get behind.
While the Peter stuff and Morgan were highlights this week, we did find parts of the episode a little bit disjointed. As much as we enjoy Diane and Cary’s latest goings-on, does the show stretch itself too much by having too many characters in different places? We imagine that for now, this is a worthy question, and the show will have the challenge of figuring out how to get creative over the weeks ahead.
For the most part, “Innocents” will still another strong episode of “The Good Wife,” and the foundation is still set for many interesting events and character interactions in the future. Grade: B.
