‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: Merida, Mulan, Ruby to go on adventure!

For most fans of “Once Upon a Time,” we would certainly understand if they felt a little bit frustrated at the moment with the lack of significant airtime for a Merida or a Ruby. One was introduced as a big recurring player this season, but has been virtually nonexistent since the premiere. Elsewhere, we know that Ruby and Mulan will be present closer to the end of the season, and in the case of the latter, we will have a complete LGBT love story explored for the first time on the show. (Yep, everything with Aurora was left unexplored.)

While at New York Comic-Con this weekend, it was revealed that these three ladies are all collectively teaming up for a story in an upcoming two-hour episode, where they will go on some sort of epic adventure. Does this lend credence to the talk that maybe Merida is the new love interest for Mulan? Yes and no; you never want to jump too much to conclusions, but at the same exact time, they are getting to spend some time together. It’s also still possible that Ruby is bisexual and she could also be the love interest.

One other thing that we are waiting to find out here is if this two-hour episode is similar to “Smash the Mirror” last season, which ultimately was counted as two separate episodes and therefore extended the order to 23. That’s an extra hour of screen time for these characters, and we certainly believe that most fans of the show would love that.
