‘Downton Abbey’ season 6, episode 5 preview: Michelle Dockery, Tom Branson, and further stories ahead
“Downton Abbey” season 6 has underwent a variety of interesting twists and turns, but at this point, there is still no telling just where the story is going to end. What we do know is that with Tom Branson still getting used to being at Downton again, he is going to have to make up for lost time. Therefore, we expect Allen Leech and Michelle Dockery to have large stories in the hour that is going to air next week on ITV.
As we do with most other preview articles here at CarterMatt, let’s start off by sharing the official synopsis right away:
“Violet invites Neville Chamberlain, minister of health, to dine at Downton Abbey as part of her scheme to quash plans for the takeover of the hospital. The evening proves distressing for everyone. Mrs Patmore, Daisy and Andy help Mr Mason to move into Yew Tree Farm and Andy finds an unexpected confidant in Thomas. Mary and Tom go to watch Henry Talbot test drive a new car, but Mary is not convinced she has met her match. Edith has a date with Bertie Pelham in London. Denker is in trouble with Violet and Spratt is forced to help her. Mrs Hughes is finding it difficult to please Mr Carson and Mary senses she has been kept in the dark about a family secret.”
Could we be getting closer to the place where Mary actually finds love? That is the hope, mostly because that is always the hope for her after all that she has been through. Still, we continue to attest that the most important thing for her is that she is happy with herself. That remains a million times more integral than relying on a man to offer up some sort of solace.

I had a feeling from last ep. of last season, that Bertie Pelham & Edith would get together & I hope they marry. I also hope her paper business remains successful. I knew Henry Talbot would be back, that he’d be a match for Mary, and I they will marry. I hope Tom finds someone to marry. I hope Thomas finds a good job and happiness, somehow. I think Daisy and the new footman will get married. I hope Isobel marries Lord Myrton. I hope the Bates have children. I hope Violet and Isobel get back to being closer friends again after this hospital business. I hope Robert will not die, but that whatever his illness is, that it helps bring to an end, the hospital debate…so that we can get on with something more interesting. I’d like to see maybe in the last ep., a fast forward to show how things end up in the future for: Downtown, George, Sibi, and everyone else!
