‘Blue Bloods’ season 6, episode 3 review: Danny, Linda cope with the shooting aftermath
As someone who works within the press, we have seen plenty of instances where reporters are not always cooperative in helping others. Many are self-interested, and some don’t even care where they get the story from.
On Friday night’s new episode of “Blue Bloods,” one reporter made it very difficult in order for Danny and Baez to solve a case. He was desperate to break most of the stories himself, and was not so keen to pass along information. The show may have been a little too heavy-handed in their approach of telling reporters to work with the cops, given that the reporter ended up eventually dying. Were it not for a camera in his glasses, the killer probably would not have been found. It was a lucky break that they didn’t shatter when he was shoved off of the top of a building.
The more intriguing aspect of “All the News That’s Fit to Click” was the rare serialized story for “Blue Bloods,” given that we started to see what the after-effects of Linda being shot were. She was struggling with the notion of him going back out there, and had an emotional reaction to family dinner this week being almost all about the case. These are natural reactions, and we feel like to a certain extent, Danny could have done more to make her feel comfortable. Still, it’s a relief to see that she is working on it.
Surprisingly, we really didn’t get too much into the Frank story with the Deputy Commissioner until the very end, where he offered up a personal raise. Maybe it is because we are used to him getting more of the political stories as compared to Danny, but at least we should be happy that all seems to be right in Frank’s world.
For the most part, this episode of “Blue Bloods” was merely okay compared to the first two, which were more action-packed and a little more consistent throughout. This one had strong moments here and there for Danny, Linda, and Frank at the end, but it could have actually benefited from scrapping the Frank sideplot and giving us more of what Linda was going through. Grade: C+.
