‘Empire’ season 2, episode 3 preview: Cookie ‘mentors’ Hakeem’s new girl group

Who knew that Cookie had it in her to be such a guest mentor on “Empire“? There is another new episode airing on Fox Wednesday night, and in the new sneak peek below, you get a chance to see just how she likes to relate teaching a girl group a thing or two to putting them through boot camp.

The group that we’re talking about here specifically is Ménage a Trois, who Hakeem put together and she is trying to cultivate. Her main argument to the three is that it is not all about singing, and unless they continue to push themselves to the limit, there is a perfectly good chance that they will disappear into nothingness. Cookie’s clearly getting some opposition here, and that is probably something that is only going to continue.

For the most part, what we’ll say for now is that we do like Cookie in this sort of environment, where she is doing what she thinks is best to push people further. She’s already been on some hard times this season, and with Lucious getting out on bail coming into this week’s episode, it is only about to get so much harder. This is just something that she has to contend with; he’s the face of Empire and probably will always be. How do you emerge from that shadow?

We’ll come back later with a full review from Wednesday night’s episode, but for the most part, we expect “Fires of Heaven” to be one of the most important chapters we’ve seen yet.
