‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Amy Schumer, Vanessa Bayer stage a ‘Trainwreck’ mini-reunion

SNL -It was only a matter of time this season of “Saturday Night Live” before Amy Schumer came over to host. She already has a sketch show of her own (an Emmy winner, no less) over on Comedy Central, and she also had a huge summer thanks to the success of her movie “Trainwreck.”

Also, she’s got plenty of friends within the “SNL” family. It’s fun that she is doing her promo for this weekend’s episode with Vanessa Bayer, given that she was also in the movie. There’s also a funny gag in here where Schumer forgets that Bayer was in the movie. From here, they celebrate, freak out, and Bayer also tells her that this is the beginning of the end for her as a major celebrity.

Going into the episode, we feel like one of the major questions for now is this: Could we see a cameo from Bill Hader in here somewhere? We already know that “SNL” loves him thanks to his many years of service, and he was also a big part of this movie, one of the few that allowed him to play a fully-fledged character rather than somebody’s buddy who comes in from time to time with an exposition question. (Yes, Hader’s speech as Hollywood during the Roast of James Franco was mostly mocking himself.)

This episode is coming off of a solid premiere from Miley Cyrus, and since Schumer is also a writer, we figure that she’s probably going to come in here with a wide array of ideas of her own. This will be a chance to see some further originality.
