‘Dancing with the Stars 21’ results preview: Are Gary Busey, Paula Deen in serious trouble?

Tonight, “Dancing with the Stars” is almost certainly going to be a tear-jerker. Host Tom Bergeron is off caring for his ailing father (Alfonso Ribeiro will guest-host), and we are sure that Alek Skarlatos’ routine is going to be especially poignant given that his community college in Oregon was the victim of a mass shooting late last week. Add to this the fact that the theme of the week is Dances Set to the Most Important Year of Your Life. We expect dedications to people like Bindi Irwin’s late father Steve, and also people discussing some of their battles with past demons.

Oh, and there will also be results at the end of the show, pending some last-minute change on the part of producers. Given that the votes from last week are carrying over to this show, we have a hard time imagining that they are going to do that again with a non-elimination.

We’re not going to waste too much time beating around the bush here, mostly because we feel like there are two people who are going to be in severe danger of going home: Paula Deen and Gary Busey. They are on an island in terms of being the celebrities with the lowest scores, and thanks in part to being more than twice the age of some of their competition, we have an insanely hard time being in the competition much longer.

What we will say is this: The one of them who stays may have a good shot of sticking around a couple of weeks longer than anyone would imagine them doing. They’ll have that underdog status more than ever, and if one of the most successful Stars starts to falter, we could be in for a surprise elimination.
