‘Gotham’ season 2, episode 3 video: Jerome pays his father a most unwelcome visit

While we have certainly seen plenty of Jerome over the first two episodes of “Gotham” season 2, you really have to go back to the show’s first season in order to get a sense on the majority of his backstory. This is someone who lived a complicated and at times abusive life, and showed that being around the circus in some capacity for him was not anywhere what it was cracked up to be.

In the sneak peek below from Monday night’s new episode entitled “The Last Laugh,” what you see is Jerome paying his father a most unwelcome visit. In a twisted way, this is the villain “seeing his father off one last time” before his most terrifying and gruesome operation so far with his group of villains otherwise known as the Maniax.

While he feels like he is ready to cause even more carnage, the GCPD is in turn more ready than every before to take him out. Right after being named Commissioner, Essen was killed in a brutal standout. She was one of the few people who really had Jim Gordon’s back, and you know that he is going to be on the hunt for revenge.

Here’s what you have to wonder when it comes to Jerome; Cameron Monaghan is not a series regular, and more than that, he has another gig on “Shameless.” We don’t assume that this is someone who is going to be around for the rest of the season. You have to find a way to dispatch of this character eventually; either you kill him off and determine that he is not actually the future Joker, or you just find a way to get him locked up again. With this episode being “The Last Laugh,” we would certainly not be shocked if Monday is his last opus for some time.
