‘Homeland’ season 5, episode 1 video: Carrie gets a new mission
With the season 5 premiere of “Homeland” airing on Showtime Sunday night, the sneak peek below is going to do its part to give you an answer to one important question: What in the world is Carrie going to be doing with her life in Germany?
Thanks to an introduction from one of her colleagues here, we have what we would consider to be a fairly precise answer: She is working as a head of security for a new firm, one that apparently wants to take her down to Lebanon right in the middle of what is a vast refugee crisis. If you have read the news lately (with “Last Week Tonight” serving as an extremely powerful source of this), millions of people are fleeing war-torn countries in the Middle East to various parts of Europe, with not all countries being particularly warm or welcoming. Germany has embraced the refugees at times more than others, but it remains to be seen how much of that is implemented into the show.
What we do know here is that due to some cyber-security concerns, we are eventually going to see the FBI starting to become more involved in these matters overseas. Carrie will find herself in Saul’s orbit once again, and you can probably expect matters between the two to be particularly icy given the betrayal that took place from Carrie’s point of view at the end of season 4.
We’re going to have so much more to discuss in terms of this season tomorrow, so be sure to come back for some further insight on that subject.
