You’ve waited for a long time to see the second-season premiere of “Madam Secretary“; as a matter of fact, you were even forced to wait last week when CBS aired the “CSI” series finale.
On Sunday, though, you are going to get a chance to see the show back on the air finally, and the sneak peek below serves to help answer an important question: What is going on when it comes to Elizabeth McCord’s home life? We know that professionally, the Secretary of State is going to find herself in quite a pickle after Air Force One disappears while on an overseas flight. Basically, what happens will force her into a position where she is sworn into office. We don’t think we are entering the President McCord era by any means, but this has to be a particularly scary moment for most of the cast.
In this sneak peek, the focus is on much more lighthearted subjects, including whether or not Elizabeth is a capable singer. We’re not entirely sure where that is coming from; who knows? Maybe it turns out the be karaoke night at the White House. (It’s doubtful, but can’t we dream?)
We do feel like for most of the first season this show struggled to find the right balance between work and home, and we see it evolving more into something like “The Good Wife,” with the main difference being that Elizabeth has a much healthier marriage than Alicia Florrick. We do want to see scenes of her at home from time to time, but we want them to either have a clear purpose or lighten up the story. In this case, the sneak peek fulfills the latter goal.
