‘Homeland’ season 5, episode 1 video: Take a quick look at premiere!
“Homeland” fans, haven’t you waited long enough? The season 5 premiere is going to air on Showtime Sunday night, which means that in due time, many of the questions that you have about the show’s direction will be answered.
Here is what we know now, based on this promo and the other information that is out there. Season 5 picks up years removed from the events of season 4, where Carrie and Saul were at extreme odds and she felt as though she had been turned on by the agency she trusted the most. There are many reasons why she is no longer affiliated with the CIA, and she is starting to feel like she has a whole new life. She and her child are now living in Germany, where she has a new job, a new relationship, and something that feels normal for the first time in a long time.
Then, Saul shows up. The moment that this happens, she has to assume that it is not good news. There is a new mission that involves cyber-security, and despite Carrie’s best efforts to steer clear of it, there will be an event that happens that leaves her no choice other than to get involved. Specifically, she is captured!
Yes, we are somewhat skeptical over yet another reprise of “Carrie is captured by the bad guys,” but we appreciate the series’ audacity, and frequent willingness to change settings from one country to another. Also, we know that Peter Quinn is going to be around once again, so for those of you who are fans of that character, there is a lot to look forward to.
For those of you who watch the show for the action, it feels almost guaranteed that we are going to see a more eventful hour of TV than what we had with the season 4 finale.
