‘Doctor Who’ season 9, episode 3 video: Steven Moffat teases ‘Under the Lake’ cliffhanger

Here is your warning, “Doctor Who” fans: This weekend’s all-new episode “Under the Lake” is going to contain a cliffhanger like no other. It will surprise you, excite you, and maybe frustrate you. Some of that depends on your satisfaction for this season at the moment, and some more of it is based on how you feel about ghosts. Steven Moffat describes this cliffhanger and then some in the short video teaser below.

The biggest thing that we can say about Saturday’s episode right now is that, more so than anything else, we are looking at a ghost story. The Doctor and Clara are heading to an underwater base in need of adventure, and what they find there is astounding. Maybe there is another twist beyond this, but for now, ghosts seem to be the name of the game. With Halloween coming in several weeks, there is no better time to introduce this story.

So far, we are feeling fairly positive about season 9, though at the same time there is a similar phenomenon to “Saturday Night Live” with this show: The time you first watch the show tends to be the time that you get the most excited about it. We have not felt the same magic in season 9 just yet that we have in assorted episodes from the past two or three seasons, but at the same, we have yet to see any dud. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen this time thanks to these two-part episodes; if you hate one part, then you’re pretty inclined to hate the other.
