‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: Why ‘Restoration’ is key episode for Katie Cassidy’s Laurel Lance
The third season of “Arrow” was a great one for Laurel. She had the opportunity to evolve from a recovering attorney to a hero-in-training, and to go along with that, she also managed to have a thoroughly entertaining arc with nary a mention of a love interest. Isn’t there something that can be said for that?
We knew that Katie Cassidy was going to get great material in the early going for the fourth season, as well, and there was a simple reason for that: The resurrection of Sara Lance. She is a huge part of her story, and when it starts to appear like there could be a way to resurrect her using the Lazarus Pits, Laurel is going to do everything that she can to bring her sister back. The synopsis for the upcoming October 21 episode “Restoration” makes this clear, but it also suggests that there is going to be some serious opposition to it:
“The growing tension between Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Diggle (David Ramsey) puts both their lives at risk when they go after Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) and a H.I.V.E. deployed meta-human. Meanwhile, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) talks Thea (Willa Holland) into returning to Nanda Parbat to ask her father (John Barrowman) to put Sara (guest star Caity Lotz) into the Lazarus Pit. However, Laurel is surprised when Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law) refuses to do it.”
Hooray for more Nyssa! One of the more fascinating wrinkles in seeing her now return to the show is that we know that the dynamic between Laurel and Nyssa shift and change; they were starting to become great friends and allies, but could this difference of opinion change things? We already imagine that Law’s character is not going to be in the best mood thanks mostly to being passed over again for the title of the Demon’s Head.

Of course I’m excited for Laurel. As a long time comic book fan I find her portrayal of Black Canary delightful and fun to watch. As a matter of fact, she is the only reason I watch the show since they completely butchered the Green Arrow. I’m not sure who that dude running around in green leather is on ther show but it is certainly not Green Arrow.

I’m always excited to see Laurel Lance on my screen! Can’t wait to see what this episode has in store for the Canary Sisters.

The presence of Laurel never makes me feel anything but embarrassment for my favorite DC super heroine, Black Canary, whose reputation has been so thoroughly tarnished by this awful version of the character. Arrow, for all of its genuine accomplishments, completely dropped the ball with Laurel Lance to a degree that I doubt there’s any recovery. Suffice to say, the presence of Laurel does not make me at all excited for this particular episode. Thankfully, there appears to be other character stuff happening that I am interest in, and it will be nice to not have Laurel involved in that part of the story.

If you don’t like it don’t watch it. Why waste time writing a comment about Black Canary. You are a fool. Laurel wasn’t handed everything in this series like felicity or Sara. She went and experience real growth as a person and as a vigilante. If you can’t understand that then I feel sorry for you and wish you weren’t apart of the fan base.

My statement had nothing to do with Sara or Felicity. I keep watching the show because, as I mentioned, there are other aspects of the series that I appreciate. As for Laurel, I consider her character to be one of the worst, most insufferable live action takes on a DC comic personality ever. I rank her right alongside Halle Berry/Catwoman, George Clooney/Batman and Shaquille O’Neal/Steel; she is that bad. I wish people like you would stop being apologists for her, it sends the message to DC and other decision makers that this kind of failure is acceptable. But alas, what can we do? I have my opinions and you have yours. I reserve the right to express my opinions just like you do, and your patronizing pity means nothing to me or anyone else.
