‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 3, episode 2 preview: The quest to save Simmons

Agents of SHIELD -At the end of “Agents of SHIELD’s” season 3 premiere on Tuesday, we learned the great news in regards to Jemma Simmons’ fate: She’s alive! It’s too bad for her that this is really the only good news, since the rest of this basically consists of reminding you that she is somewhere on the other side of the universe. Last we heard, you unfortunately cannot go to JFK and buy a plane ticket there, though you hardly need to when you’ve got the money of SHIELD behind you and jaw-dropping technology.

Still, this is no easy feat coming up, but with two seasons of pent-up “will they or won’t they?” feels, you gotta believe that Fitz will be surging this story forward. Per the synopsis for next week’s new episode “Purpose in the Machine,” he is going to be at the center of the action:

“Fitz and the team enlist the aid of an Asgardian to unlock the secrets of the ancient monolith that swallowed Simmons, and Agent May is at a crossroads in her personal and professional life.”

By the time we make it to the end of the story, you better believe that some more surprises will be coming your way, largely because that is the SHIELD Way. Someone should make some sort of old-school, military-style poster touting that.

All in all, it looks like there’s a fun season ahead! Anything that includes aliens, a dude named “Lash,” and Ward getting to have more power is something that we’ll sign on the dotted line for.
