‘Supernatural’ season 11, episode 1 video: First peek of Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki
*In the “Supernatural” sneak peek below, you’ve got a little bit of everything: There’s an element of “The Leftovers,” a massacre, people with freaky necks, and a question about whether or not Sam and Dean are about to have a “Magic Mike” moment.
This preview feels mostly like the immediate aftermath to what happened with the Darkness in the season 10 finale. Neither Winchester has any idea as of yet about what is truly going on, or why there are so many bodies lining the street. Then, they see a guy with a freaky / veiny neck, and he is shot down by a local member of law enforcement. A police officer then reveals herself to the two of them, and asks that she see their throats for proof that neither of them is stricken with whatever the other guy had.
At the moment, what we like about this sneak peek (and what we are hopeful about for much of season 11) is that you have Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles getting to play the brothers as just that: Brothers. There’s no secret that is being hidden (at least for now), or no angsty conflict that drives the two apart. They are able to, at least for now, play the bond as it is, and that makes for some fantastic entertainment for us. We did enjoy the Demon Dean story last year, but it felt like it was time to try something different. The Darkness is such a mystery that you don’t need to supplement that with a variety of other tension that would, at this point, feel contrived.

I’m not feigning shock; I’m truly surprised that this program is still on. I don’t live in the US and thought that it ended with Swan Song, which was an amazing episode. Supernatural was one of those shows that just worked for me. The writing wasn’t anything special and acting wasn’t great. The deep voice that the actor faked for Dean seemed unnecessary and often took me out of the moment, and Sam could be REALLY bad at times, like sixth form play bad, but somehow it all came together anyway. I think the actors had good chemistry and that helped a lot. Amazed to hear the show is still on. I’m going to investigate some of the epis online.

There are always some clunker episodes, but when the show is on, it’s ON. The acting remains phenomenal. Don’t like, don’t watch. I’m up for more seasons.

dang, my first instinct is always to defend the show…..but it’s true that it should end soon. lots of things get done over and over and spn just isn’t good like it used to be. jared and jensen have made enough $. they may not be the best actors in hollywood but they got more than enough $ to dry they tears.
