‘Power’ season 3 star Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson furthers relationship with Starz

Starz is in the middle of what we would call a renaissance, as many of its series are experiencing great ratings and also critical acclaim. “Power” is at the moment one of its network champions, given that it combines great rating with intense storytelling and a wonderfully diverse cast. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is one of the show’s selling points when it comes to big names, and now Starz is looking to figure out just what else they can do with him.

According to Deadline, Jackson has signed a new two-year deal with the network to further develop projects for them, while continuing to serve both as a star and an executive producer on “Power.” He had the following to say in a statement:

“Starz has been the perfect partner to make Power the success that it is and I am looking forward to developing many more record-breaking series with them.”

As with many other deals of this variety, we imagine that it will take a little bit of time before this deal starts to bear more fruit. It is a smart deal for Starz to have him locked in, since it gives them time to ponder over how else to use some of his talents to expand their brand. With a burgeoning lineup of shows, the network is looking at either doubling-up on some of its programming in 2016 on Saturday nights, or moving some shows to a new night altogether. If they can continue to add subscribers in the process, they could further shore up a position of being only behind HBO when it comes to the best of premium cable.

“Power” season 3 featuring Jackson and Omari Hardwick is currently in production.
