‘The X-Files’ trailer: David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and the Smoking Man are back!

While Fox has spent a lot of time hyping up their upcoming “X-Files” revival with a series of little sneak peeks here and there, there is one thing that they have not given us until now: A meaty promo to feast on.

Luckily, that changed on Monday when the network decided that they were going to deliver some substantial footage to the fans. What you’ve got below is the most in-depth piece of video that we have seen from the six-episode “season” coming in January, and it has most of everything you could want.

1. The trademark music, which is enough to send a chill down your spine.

2. Mulder / Scully interactions. These are the sort of things that made the original so great.

3. Smoking Man. Need we say more?

These new episodes are meant to be both a love letter to the fans as well as a way for the show to tie up some of its own loose ends. Plus, for those of you who did not enjoy the last movie as much as you wanted to, this is a chance to end things the right way … provided of course that this is the end. We’re not going to say anything definitive on that until the ratings come in, because if this is a huge success, Fox may go ahead and write everyone involved a blank check to keep doing it.

Hopefully, this is the first of many trailers coming in the next few months. We want to believe that there will be more … and yes, that was a very obvious pun.
