‘Blue Bloods’ season 6 spoilers: Frank faces off with Fire Department head

Blue Bloods season 6When you think about the NYPD and the city Fire Department, there are typically a few things come to mind: Heroism, cooperation, and occasionally baseball games (or other sporting events) that are played to raise money and awareness for charity.

But what happens when there are deeper issues that start to make themselves clear between the two departments? Is it something they can put aside for the sake of a good cause? This is something that will be a major theme for the upcoming October 16 episode of “Blue Bloods” season 6 entitled “With Friends Like These.” You’re going to see Frank go face-to-face with the head of the NYFD, and we have a feeling that this could cause some greater controversy if he does not find a way to handle their underlying disagreement with discretion. The synopsis below offers up some further details:

“Erin’s attempt to convict a slippery mob boss for an old murder is muddled when her former informant, Vincent (Dan Hedaya), leaves witness protection to provide his old boss with an alibi. Also, Frank finds himself in a departmental war with Commissioner of the New York City Fire Department.”

We’re going to admit here that we are partial to the Frank storyline on the show for two simple reasons: We love that Frank is a man that finds himself working to do what’s right even if it doesn’t always fit into his own political or personal views, and we also tend to find mob stories a little too complex for procedural shows. While it helps in this case that we have seen Vincent on “Blue Bloods” before, this is just not our favorite style of story to explore here. It just feels old-school, and this show tackles a lot of modern problems making the topics more relatable to a grander audience.
