‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ season 8 trailer: Kim Fields joins Kandi Burruss, Kenya More, cast

At the end of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” season 7, we felt like the Bravo series was in a particularly precarious position. How else do you describe losing someone like NeNe Leakes? While not everyone out there may like NeNe, there is still no questioning to us that she is one of the life-bloods of this series and really the entire Bravo franchise. It is hard to really imagine this working without her.

Yet, this is precisely what we are doing now moving into the start of season 8. NeNe is gone, and the show seems to be relying on a little bit of nostalgia courtesy of someone else: Sheree Whitfield. For those who have missed her as a part of the cast, you can rejoice the fact that she is back! As for everyone else, well let’s just say that we don’t have much for you now that is going to make you happy.

The full cast for this season also will include Cynthia Bailey, Kenya Moore, Phaedra Parks, Kandi Burruss and Porsha Williams along with one other newcomer: Kim Fields, who brings a different sort of nostalgia than anyone else we have seen on the show over the years. After all, she is a former cast member of “The Facts of Life,” and maybe the show will make up for NeNe’s loss by getting someone who fans of classic TV want to see.

It’s hard to tell just how this season as a whole is going to fare, but we do have to say that the trailer below is basically exactly what we expected from this franchise. There’s humor, but then also plenty of conflict.
